Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I walked....I talked....I cried....I shared....I celebrated...and I couldn't have done it without you!!
This weekend was truly amazing!! The weather, for the most part, was beautiful and the heart and soul
that took over New York City was truly inspirational. Over 3,500 people participated in the walk this
weekend and every one of them had an amazing part of themselves and their lives to share.
You should be proud to know that you helped to make the Avon Walk New York 2006 the most successful
event in Avon Walk history. We broke every record in the book, raising over 9.6 MILLION DOLLARS!! When I
first heard that number announced, it brought tears to my eyes. That is a lot of money that can fund a
lot of research and help a lot of underprivileged people who can't afford the appropriate care. It feels
so amazing to be a part of this history making event.
I want to give a special thanks to my amazing team, Peggy's Spirit. They welcomed me with open arms,
made me feel like part of the family, and taught me a little something along the way. In 2004, I was
experiencing the newness of being part of something so extraordinary, and I wanted to prove to myself
that I could actually walk 39.3 miles in one weekend...and I did! This year, in 2006, I was taking it
all in again, and I still focused on getting in all of that mileage. One of the amazing things that the
wonderful women and men of Peggy's Spirit taught me, was to take the time to enjoy the journey, and the
people who are taking it with you. The soul is in the stories, and in the hearts of every walker, crew
member and volunteer that you encounter during the weekend. I missed a little of that this time around,
but I won't next year. Peggy's Spirit is just that, an amazing spirit and an amazing family and community
of people.
In case you missed that last little hint...I did say NEXT YEAR! Of course I will be taking a little
break before I begin on the path towards Avon Walk NYC 2007, but I will be taking that journey.
I will be walking until I don't have to anymore, until we find a cure. With your help, support, and
even prayers, that may be sooner rather than later.
Thank you friends, thank you family, and thank you Peggy's Spirit! See you in 2007!!!
Love always,
Sheryl
